SONIC FABRIC (2000-to present) is an ongoing work of sound/conceptual art by Alyce Santoro. Editions are woven from household 1/8" audiocassette tape that has been recorded with layered collages of collected, created, and found samples of sound and music. It is intended as a "philosophical illustration"—a philosoprop—that can be used to describe the ways in which our experiences, memories, landscapes, atmospheres...our very existences...are inherently woven from vibration into infinite, exquisite, cacophonous, collective, material forms.
