All Blues - Chromatic Analysis
Gouache on birch panel, 30", 2022

The chord progression—sets of musical relationships (scales or "modes"...in this case, mixolydian beginning on four different notes)—that form the framework for Miles Davis' iconic 12-bar blues are visualized using a spectrum consisting of 12 hues (please see Tonal Relativity for more info). The structure begins at the 12 o'clock position.
