Film still from a performance using
a "rubin's tube", an apparatus made
from a length of gas pipe with a
hundred or so holes drilled in it.
At one end there's a gas line input,
and at the other a diaphragm made
of plastic wrap. An amplifier is
placed next to the diaphragm, then
any sound produced vibrates the
plastic, compressing the gas in
the tube, thereby converting the
sound into wave patterns
in the flame.
